Naples to Positano by private car: what to know

Most travelers reach Positano through Naples: it is the closest international airport to the Amalfi Coast and the high-speed trains from Rome and Florence stop at Napoli Centrale. From either point, a private transfer is the simplest way to cover the last 60 km, because Positano has no train station and its roads are narrow and winding.

The route

From Naples the driver takes the A3 motorway south, past Mount Vesuvius, to Castellammare di Stabia. The road then follows the coast of the Sorrento peninsula and climbs over the hills before dropping down to Positano, with the first views of the Amalfi Coast on the way down.

How long it really takes

Allow 1.5 hours on a quiet day and up to 2 hours in summer traffic. The busiest moments are summer weekends, public holidays and late afternoons. For an early flight home, we suggest leaving Positano with a comfortable margin; we will advise you on the pick-up time when you book.

Arriving in Positano

Positano is built on a steep cliff, with a one-way road looping through the village and pedestrian lanes and steps below it. If your hotel is on the road, we stop at the entrance. If it is lower down, we stop at the closest point a car can reach and help with your bags; many hotels send a porter, and we coordinate the timing with them.

Traveling with children or a lot of luggage

Child seats are available on request: tell us each child's age and weight when you book. The E-Class takes 1–2 passengers with 2–3 bags; the V-Class minivan takes up to 7 passengers with 6–9 bags, which is why it is our most booked vehicle on this route. Larger groups travel in the Mercedes Sprinter.

Booking and paying

You send a request with the Book now button: nothing is charged at that stage. Our office confirms by email with a secure link to verify your card (€0.01), which you complete within 48 hours. You pay on the day of the transfer, by card or cash. Cancellation is free up to 48 hours before pick-up.
