Naples or Salerno?

Two ports, two ways to drive the coast

The coast lies between the two cruise ports, so the direction of the day depends on where your ship docks.

From Naples

Sorrento → Positano → Amalfi → Ravello

About 1 hour 15 minutes to reach the coast over the Sorrento peninsula. We start in Positano in the morning light and come back over the hills from Ravello. €500 per vehicle, €650 with a Sprinter.

From Salerno

Ravello → Amalfi → Positano

The coast starts 15 minutes from the port, at Vietri sul Mare, so you spend more of the day in the villages. We drive east to west and turn around in Positano. €600 per vehicle, €750 with a Sprinter.

Questions

Amalfi Coast tour: frequently asked questions

How much does a private Amalfi Coast tour cost?

€500 per vehicle from Naples (cruise port or hotels) for up to 7 passengers (Mercedes E-Class for 1–2, V-Class for up to 7), or €650 for up to 16 in a Mercedes Sprinter. From the Salerno cruise port the price is €600, or €750 with a Sprinter. Entrance tickets and guides are not included.

What do we see on the Amalfi Coast tour?

The classic tour covers Positano, Amalfi and Ravello, with photo stops along the Amalfi Drive at Praiano, the Fiordo di Furore and Conca dei Marini. Sorrento can be added at the start or swapped for Ravello.

How long is the tour?

About 8 to 9 hours from pick-up to drop-off, usually 8:30 to 17:30 from Naples. For cruise passengers we plan the day backwards from the all-aboard time.

Is the Amalfi Coast tour a good shore excursion from Naples or Salerno?

Yes. From Naples we drive the coast from west to east, starting with Positano. From Salerno the coast begins just outside the port, so we start with Ravello and Amalfi and there is more time on the coast.

Which side of the car should we sit on?

Going from Positano towards Amalfi the sea is on the right-hand side of the car. Your driver will stop at the best viewpoints anyway, so everyone gets the photos.

Are entrance tickets included?

No. Villa Rufolo and Villa Cimbrone in Ravello, the cloister of Amalfi Cathedral and the Paper Museum have their own tickets, bought per person on the spot.

Can we book a guide?

Yes. A licensed guide can join you for Amalfi and Ravello on request. Ask when you book and we will send you a quote.

Is the Amalfi Drive safe for people who get car-sick?

The road has many bends. Our drivers take it slowly, the front seat helps, and we can add extra stops. Bring your usual remedy if you are prone to motion sickness.

What is the cancellation policy?

Cancellation is free up to 48 hours before the tour. Later cancellations and no-shows are charged in full.
