The road from Rome to the coast is the A1 motorway south to Naples, then the Sorrento peninsula and the Amalfi Drive. It is about 270 km each way; with one coffee stop it takes around three and a half hours.

The alternative: a one-way private transfer from Rome to Positano costs €650 per vehicle. Stay a night or two on the coast, then continue to Naples or back to Rome.

Can you visit the Amalfi Coast in a day from Rome?
Yes, with a private driver it works well. The drive from Rome to Positano takes about 3.5 hours each way, which leaves about 6 hours on the coast. Expect a long day of 12 to 13 hours, with pick-up and drop-off at your hotel in Rome.
How much does the day tour from Rome to the Amalfi Coast cost?

We usually pick you up at your hotel in Rome around 7:30 and bring you back around 20:30. We can start earlier to give you more time on the coast; the return time depends on traffic.
Can we stop at Pompeii on the way?
Yes. Pompeii is close to the motorway between Rome and the coast, so you can swap part of your 6 hours for a visit to the excavations. Entrance tickets and a guide are extra.
Where can you pick us up in Rome?
At any hotel or apartment in Rome, including the historic centre. We also collect guests at Rome Fiumicino or Ciampino airport, or at the cruise port of Civitavecchia, with a quote on request.
Is it better to stay a night on the Amalfi Coast?
If you have the time, yes: the one-way transfer from Rome to Positano costs €650 and lets you see the coast without the drive back. The day tour is the best choice when Rome is your only base.
What is the cancellation policy?
Cancellation is free up to 48 hours before the tour. Later cancellations and no-shows are charged in full.
