Local know-how

How a pick-up works in Positano

Positano is built on a cliff. A single one-way road winds through the upper village; below it, only steps and lanes lead down to the beach. This is how we make it easy.

  1. Tell us your hotelWhen you book, give us the name of your hotel or villa in Positano.
  2. We choose the meeting pointIf the car can reach your door, we come to the door. If not, we tell you the nearest drop-off point on the road.
  3. Porters for your luggageFor hotels below the road, local porters carry bags up and down for a fee. Your hotel can book them, or we coordinate.
  4. Your driver is earlyStopping on Positano's road is only possible for a few minutes, so your driver arrives early and messages you on arrival.

Three tips from our Positano drivers

Do not rent a carParking in Positano is scarce and costly, and summer traffic on the coast road is slow. Use a driver for arrivals and day trips.
Leave earlyFor flights from Naples, leave Positano with a good margin in summer: the coast road can be slow from late morning.
Pack light, or book portersHundreds of steps separate many hotels from the road. Porters make arrival day stress-free.

Questions

Private driver in Positano: frequently asked questions

Can the driver pick us up at our hotel in Positano?

Yes, at the closest point your hotel can be reached by car. Positano is largely pedestrian: a single one-way road runs through the village, and many hotels are on it. For hotels below the road, we meet you at the nearest drop-off point and tell you exactly where when we confirm.

Are there luggage porters in Positano?

Yes. Local porters carry luggage between the road and hotels that cannot be reached by car, for a fee paid directly to them. Many hotels arrange this for you; ask your hotel or tell us and we will coordinate.

How much is a private car from Positano to Naples airport?

€200 per vehicle for up to 7 passengers (Mercedes E-Class for 1–2, V-Class for up to 7), the same to Napoli Centrale station or the Naples port. Tolls, parking, fuel and VAT are included.

How much is a private car from Positano to Rome?

€650 per vehicle for up to 7 passengers, door to door from your Positano hotel to Rome Fiumicino, Ciampino or your Rome hotel.

Can we do a day tour starting from our Positano hotel?

Yes. Our full-day private tours — the Amalfi Coast, Pompeii with Sorrento, or Pompeii, Herculaneum and Vesuvius — start at €500 per vehicle with pick-up at your hotel in Positano.

Can you drive us to dinner in Ravello or Amalfi and back?

Yes. Short rides on the coast and evenings out with the driver waiting are quoted on request, depending on the time and distance.

Is it worth renting a car in Positano?

For most visitors, no. Parking in Positano is scarce and expensive, the coast road is narrow and busy in summer, and driving means missing the view. A driver for arrivals, departures and day trips is usually simpler.

What is the cancellation policy?

Cancellation is free up to 48 hours before pick-up. Later cancellations and no-shows are charged in full; there is no charge if your flight or train is cancelled.
